It is that time of the year again when we're looking for our National Recycling Champion of the Year!
Every school year, in term 1 to 3, our Anchor milkmen nominate the schools in their area that excel at how they handle the recycling aspect of the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme. In term 4, those schools have the chance to win a TerraCycle Upcycling Workshop at their school!
Last year's award went to Miramar Central Primary in Wellington who had a fun day turning trash into treasure in term 1 this year. Click here to read about their day.
Why do we do this? Because Fonterra and the Fonterra Milk for Schools team are committed to minimising waste! We collect empty Fonterra Milk for Schools packs from schools throughout the country, recycle Anchor Light Proof bottles into milk crates and recycling bins, and compost our organic food waste. Recycling is an essential part of the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme, and our packs are recycled into some pretty amazing things, such as roof tiles, school books and even boats! Click here to download our Recycling Journey Poster that shows you exactly what happens to a Fonterra Milk for Schools milk pack during its lifecycle - it's really cool!
We would like to see our schools' very own recycling journey in action and are challenging all nominated schools to show us how they minimise waste and increase recycling at their school. It is up to them to decide how they illustrate this journey - it could be a poster, powerpoint presentation, photo book or video.
Entries can be submitted up until 12pm on 24 November 2016. A panel consisting of the wider Fonterra Milk for Schools team will have the hard task of selecting a winner for the highly coveted 2016 Fonterra Milk for Schools Recycling Champion. It won't be easy, that is for sure!
If you are one of the nominated schools, download the following competition documents to get started:
If you have any questions regarding the competition, get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org; we're always happy to help!
Good luck to all nominated schools! :)
