Fay's Story

Fay and her husband Rick head up our Anchor Milk Team in Hawke's Bay.  They, along with all of our Anchor Milk teams across the country, are two of the key people that help make Fonterra Milk for schools possible! Fay and Rick are passionate advocates for the programme, and are our much deserved winners of the Fonterra Milk For Schools Franchisee of the year Award for 2018.

My favourite part of the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme is when I deliver to the country schools and the children tell me how much they love milk. They are always so keen to help me unload and talk to me about what they are doing at school"

Fay Bagley, Franchise Owner, Anchor Milk Hawke's Bay, Hawke's Bay

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

We are the Anchor Milk Franchisees for Hawke’s Bay and Central Hawke’s Bay. Our Fonterra Milk for Schools area extends from Te Pohue School in the north to Takapau School in the south, and everything in between. We have a large number of rural schools we deliver to including the Chatham Islands. When we are not delivering Milk for Schools we are delivering milk, dairy products and a huge range of beverages to our customers which include Cafes, Restaurants, Wineries, Service Stations & Commercial premises.

What motivates you to get out of bed each morning?

My family motivate me to get up in the morning. Our children are 17 and 14 years old now and I enjoy sitting down with them for breakfast and talking about the day ahead.

Can you tell us about the part you play in Fonterra Milk for Schools?

My role in the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme is to make sure we deliver to each school on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or sometimes once-a-term basis. It is a constant juggling act, particularly in winter with the rural schools when the children drink less milk – it is just too cold to drink cold milk in the snow covered playground!

What's your favourite part about the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme?

My favourite part of the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme is when I deliver to the country schools and the children tell me how much they love milk. They are so keen to help me unload and talk to me about what they are doing at school. There are some real characters out there and they make me laugh.

What's your favourite way to enjoy milk?

My favourite way to drink milk is in a milkshake. One of our suppliers brought out a Popcorn flavoured milkshake syrup and it tastes and smells exactly like Popcorn. Yum!
